Storytime on the Irvin

Home / Events / Storytime on the Irvin

A unique family experience in Duluth, Minnesota, Storytime on the Irvin invites young readers and their caregivers aboard a historic ship for stories, songs, and hands-on exploration.

Hosted by the Duluth Public Library, this special program takes place on the deck of the famous William A. Irvin ore ship, where kids in pre-K through grade 3 can enjoy interactive storytime followed by time to explore the vessel together. It’s a memorable way for families to combine reading, music, and local history in one engaging outdoor experience.

Please note: due to the historic nature of the ship, the venue is not ADA accessible and includes multiple staircases. Strollers and wagons are not permitted, and children must be supervised at all times. Capacity is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Free parking is available in the DECC lot across from the ship—just mention Storytime on the Irvin at the booth.
